 SOIL FAQ

What is the difference between RGB (Raised Garden Blend) and OGB (Organic Grower's Blend)?

  • The RGB (Raised Garden Blend) has soil and is planting ready.

  • The OGB (Organic Grower's Blend) has no soil and is not planting ready. It must be mixed with a soil medium such as topsoil, potting soil, etc.

Can I make a custom mix?

We offer a Truck Mix if you want to customize your own soil blend.

1.Decide what soil amendments you want. Choose from:

  • Topsoil

  • Compost

  • Manure

  • Pine Fines

  • Raised Garden Blend

  • Organic Grower's Blend

  • Organic Grower’s Mulch

2. Example of a Truck Mix order:

  • Compost (2 yards) + Manure (1 yard) + Topsoil (1.5 yards)

3. Delivery: We load your soil amendments into the Kern delivery truck in alternated layers like a lasagna. Then the soil amendments are mixed when the product is unloaded at the delivery site.

4. Pick up: Bring in a truck or trailer and pick up your own Truck Mix. Note: the total amount of Truck Mix received will depend on your order and your vehicle. This is because most average pick-up trucks can only carry a total of 1 yard to 1.5 yards due to weight of soil and soil amendments.

Do you have any pre bagged product?

We carry pre bagged soil essentials. They are Minnesota grown, horticultural grade, and all natural. See Products Page for current Offerings and Price.
